What is a guess paper, and what is it not?

A guess paper is a list of important questions, built from past paper trends and the textbook, that helps you revise in the last weeks. It tells you which kinds of questions the board asks often. It does not tell you the exact paper, and nobody can honestly promise that a question will come.

Treat it as a smart revision list. Study the chapter first, then use the guess paper to check whether you can answer the most important questions without looking at the book.

What the 9th class science guess paper covers

The guess paper is organised chapter by chapter and by question type, so you can match it with the pairing scheme of each subject:

  • Physics: definitions, short reasoning questions, derivations and numericals.
  • Chemistry: definitions, equations, short questions and long questions on paired chapters.
  • Biology: definitions, diagram-based questions, short questions and long questions.
  • Mathematics: exercise questions, theorems and the types of problems the board repeats.
  • Computer Science: concepts, short answers and logic or program questions.

Each subject follows the paper pattern in the 9th class science pairing scheme, so you can see how many questions you attempt and how marks are divided.

How to use the guess paper step by step

  1. Finish the chapter first. Read the chapter, solve the exercise and watch the lecture if you need it.
  2. Attempt the guess questions without the book. Write the answers in your own words, with steps for numericals and equations.
  3. Mark what you could not answer. Go back to those parts of the chapter and repeat them the next day.
  4. Practise the MCQs of the same chapter. Objective questions need a different kind of revision from written answers.
  5. Solve a past paper once a week. Use the real time limit and check your own answers honestly.

Subject-wise tips for the last weeks

Physics

Write each formula with its symbols and units, and solve numericals in four steps: given data, formula, substitution and answer with the unit. Redo the numericals you got wrong after a week.

Chemistry

Keep a short list of definitions and balanced equations for every chapter, and write them by hand. Revise the list for five minutes every day instead of reading it once.

Biology

Draw and label the diagrams yourself. Learn definitions word for word and keep the key terms of each long question in a short outline.

Mathematics

Solve every exercise of the book on paper, then redo the questions you missed. Time yourself, because the paper has many questions to finish.

Computer Science

Revise the concepts as short notes and practise writing programs and logic steps by hand, since the paper is written, not typed.

Mistakes to avoid with guess papers

  • Learning answers by heart without understanding the chapter.
  • Skipping chapters because they are not in a list.
  • Trusting a guess paper that promises exact questions. No honest guess paper can.
  • Practising only the long questions and leaving the MCQs for the last day.
  • Never checking your answers against the textbook.

Frequently asked questions

What is a guess paper?

A guess paper is a list of important and expected questions chosen from past paper trends and the textbook. It is a revision guide. It is not the actual paper, and no one can promise which questions will come.

Is this guess paper based on the new syllabus?

Yes. It follows the new Punjab Board syllabus and the current textbooks. Where a chapter has changed from the older books, questions are chosen from the new chapter and its exercises.

Which subjects does the 9th class science guess paper cover?

Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and Computer Science. Students of the science group prepare Biology or Computer Science along with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

Is the guess paper the same for all Punjab boards?

It is written for students of all nine Punjab boards: Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Multan, Sargodha, Sahiwal, Dera Ghazi Khan and Bahawalpur, because they study the same Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board syllabus. Follow your own board if it issues a separate notice.

Should I study only the guess paper?

No. Use the guess paper after you have studied the chapter. Cover the book exercises, the MCQs and the past papers as well, because the paper can ask any question from the syllabus.

How do I use the guess paper with the pairing scheme?

The pairing scheme shows the pattern and the chapter groups. The guess paper shows important questions inside those chapters. Read the pairing scheme first, then practise the guess paper chapter by chapter.
