9th Class Physics Pairing Scheme 2027 Punjab Board

Physics is the paper where knowing the pattern helps the most: the nine chapters fall into three clean groups, and every short and long question is built from one group. This page lays out the 60-mark Physics scheme for students of the Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Multan, Sargodha, Sahiwal, Dera Ghazi Khan and Bahawalpur boards.

How the 60 marks of Physics are divided

Total marks60
MCQs (objective part)12 MCQs, 12 marks
Written part48 marks
Short questionsThree questions, attempt 5 of 8 in each (30 marks)
Long questionsAttempt any 2 of 3, 9 marks each (18 marks)

Twelve marks come from MCQs and forty-eight from written answers. Each chapter group offers one short question worth 10 marks, where you answer 5 of 8 parts, and one long question worth 9 marks. You attempt two of the three long questions, so you may leave one long question, but every short question has to be faced.

The nine chapters of 9th class Physics

The groups are chapters 1 to 3, chapters 4 to 6 and chapters 7 to 9. The numbered list below follows the book, so you can see which chapters travel together.

  1. Physical Quantities and Measurements
  2. Kinematics
  3. Dynamics
  4. Turning Effect of Forces
  5. Work and Energy
  6. Mechanical Properties of Matter
  7. Thermal Properties of Matter
  8. Magnetism
  9. Nature of Science

What the three chapter groups mean for your questions

Because every question comes from a whole group, a strong chapter cannot cover for a weak one beside it. If Kinematics is clear but Dynamics is not, the first group will still catch you in the long question.

Chapter 1 sets the language for the rest of the book: quantities, units and measurement. Many unit mistakes in later numericals trace back to it, so it deserves a careful first read.

The third group ends with Nature of Science, which is easy to treat as light reading. Because the short question of that group is chosen from all three of its chapters, read it with the same care as the others.

A group-by-group plan for Physics

  1. Give each group about two weeks, in the order of the book, and finish its numericals before you move to the next group.
  2. At the end of every group, answer one set of short questions from memory, five out of eight, and mark yourself against the textbook.
  3. Write one long answer per group in full, with the diagram, the formula and the unit on the last line.
  4. Use the final fortnight to mix the groups, because the paper does exactly that.
  5. Keep one sheet per group with formulas, symbols and SI units, and read it before every practice session.

Where Physics students lose marks

  • Practising only the chapter you enjoy inside a group.
  • Writing the answer of a numerical without the unit.
  • Reading derivations instead of writing them out once by hand.
  • Keeping the 12 MCQs for the last week, although they are a fifth of the paper.

Frequently asked questions

How many marks is the 9th class Physics paper, and how are they divided?

The paper is 60 marks. Twelve marks are MCQs. The other 48 are written: three short questions where you answer 5 of 8 parts (30 marks) and two of three long questions of 9 marks each (18 marks).

Which chapters are grouped together in Physics?

Chapters 1 to 3, chapters 4 to 6 and chapters 7 to 9. Each short question and each long question draws from one of these groups.

I study under BISE Gujranwala. Is my Physics pattern different from Lahore?

Gujranwala and Lahore students study the same Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board syllabus, and this page is meant for all nine boards. If your own board issues a separate notice, follow that notice.

Can I skip one chapter group in Physics?

It is risky. All three short questions have to be attempted, and each one comes from a different group, so skipping a group costs you a full short question. Only the long questions give you a choice.

Does the scheme tell me which numericals will come?

No. It shows the pattern and the chapter groups. Practise numericals from the whole group, not from a short list.

Where can I learn each Physics chapter step by step?

The Creative Taleem app has chapter-wise Physics lectures, quizzes and an AI tutor, so you can follow the groups in the same order as the scheme.
