A simple method for using the guess paper
- Finish the chapter first. Go through the text and the exercise, and watch a lecture for any topic that stays unclear.
- Attempt the listed questions with the book shut. Write complete answers, with the working shown for every numerical.
- Compare with the textbook. Correct terms, units and steps, and note what you missed.
- Take a short MCQ set. Objective questions test recall differently from written answers.
- Retry the misses after two days. A second attempt shows what has really stayed with you.
- Sit one complete paper a week. Keep to the time limit and mark yourself honestly.
Subject tips for the weeks before the exam
Physics
Keep a single sheet of formulas, symbols and SI units. Solve numericals in a fixed layout and look at the reasonableness of every answer.
Chemistry
Rewrite your equations notebook from memory every weekend, with conditions beside each reaction, and practise the 2-mark parts in timed sets.
Biology
Draw and label diagrams until you can do them without the book, and rehearse long answers as headed outlines.
Mathematics
Solve on paper, show the steps, and sit a full paper against the clock once a week, because the paper is long.
Computer Science
Trace code by hand, then run it, and keep the practical file moving at the same time as theory revision.
Guess paper mistakes in the first year
- Learning model answers while the chapter behind them stays unread.
- Dropping a chapter just because the list does not mention it.
- Trusting any list that says it knows the exact paper.
- Rehearsing long answers only and keeping the 15 to 20 MCQs for the final day.
- Never comparing a written answer with the textbook.
Frequently asked questions
What does a first-year guess paper contain?
It is a list of expected and important questions chosen by looking at past papers and the textbook. It is a revision aid. It is not the real paper, and nobody can say which questions will be asked.
Does the guess paper follow the new FSc books?
Yes. It follows the new Punjab Board syllabus and the present textbooks. Where a chapter has changed from the older books, the questions come from the new chapter and its exercises.
Which subjects does the 11th class science guess paper cover?
All five science subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and Computer Science. Pre-medical students use the first three, pre-engineering students use Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, and ICS students use Computer Science, Mathematics and Physics.
Can students of Sahiwal or Dera Ghazi Khan use the same guess paper as Lahore students?
Yes. The guess paper is written for all nine Punjab boards: Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Multan, Sargodha, Sahiwal, Dera Ghazi Khan and Bahawalpur, because they follow the same syllabus and textbooks. A notice from your own board would take priority.
Is it enough to study only from the guess paper?
No. Read the chapter, solve the exercise and do the MCQs as well. The guess paper decides what to revise first, not what to leave out.
Does the guess paper help with practical marks?
It is meant for the theory paper. Physics, Chemistry and Biology have 15 practical marks, and Computer Science has 25, so keep regular lab time apart from guess paper revision.
