9th Class Chemistry Pairing Scheme 2027 Punjab Board

Chemistry rewards students who revise in pairs. In the 9th class scheme the long questions join chapters 1 and 2, 3 and 7, and 8 and 10, so the book is studied differently from the order of its contents page. This page covers the 60-mark Chemistry scheme for students of the Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Multan, Sargodha, Sahiwal, Dera Ghazi Khan and Bahawalpur boards.

The 60-mark Chemistry paper in numbers

Total marks60
MCQs (objective part)12 MCQs, 12 marks
Written part48 marks
Short questionsThree questions, attempt 5 of 8 in each (30 marks)
Long questionsAttempt any 2 of 3, 9 marks each (18 marks)

The paper has 12 MCQs and 48 marks of written questions. The short questions come in three sections, from chapters 1 to 4, 5 to 8 and 9 to 11, and you answer 5 of the 8 parts in each section. The long questions carry 9 marks each, and you attempt two of three.

The three long-question pairs in Chemistry

The first pair joins States of Matter and Phase Changes (chapter 1) with Atomic Structure (chapter 2). The second joins Chemical Bonding (chapter 3) with Acid Base Chemistry (chapter 7). The third joins Periodic Table and Periodicity (chapter 8) with Environmental Chemistry (chapter 10).

The pairs jump across the book. A student who revises strictly in order may study chapter 7 long after chapter 3 and lose the connection, so read each pair together at least once.

Chapter 11, Hydrocarbons, is not in a long-question pair, but it carries two MCQs while each of chapters 1 to 10 carries one. Do not leave it for the end.

Study Chemistry in pairs and sections

  1. Begin with the three pairs and prepare each as one unit before you go back to the chapters outside them.
  2. For the short questions, work in the three sections of the scheme, and practise answering five of eight from each section.
  3. Keep a balanced-equations notebook, one page per chapter, and rewrite it from memory every week.
  4. Revise definitions in five-minute bursts, since the MCQs and short questions both reward exact wording.
  5. Take a chapter-wise MCQ set after each chapter, so that all eleven chapters have been tested at least once.

Common Chemistry mistakes before the paper

  • Writing equations that are not balanced.
  • Learning a definition by heart without being able to give an example.
  • Treating the later chapters as an optional extra.
  • Preparing the two chapters of a pair weeks apart.

When the pattern is clear, practise with the 9th class Chemistry guess paper, and learn the lectures in Chemistry online.

Frequently asked questions

Which Chemistry chapters are paired in the long questions?

Chapters 1 and 2, chapters 3 and 7, and chapters 8 and 10. You attempt any two of the three long questions, each of 9 marks.

How are the Chemistry short questions divided between chapters?

There are three sections: chapters 1 to 4, chapters 5 to 8 and chapters 9 to 11. Inside every section you pick 5 of the 8 parts.

How many MCQs come from each Chemistry chapter?

Chapters 1 to 10 carry one MCQ each and chapter 11 carries two, which gives the 12 MCQs of the paper.

I am a BISE Faisalabad student. Do I prepare Chemistry differently?

Faisalabad students follow the same Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board syllabus as the other eight boards, and this page is written for all of them. If your board issues a different notice, follow it.

Is it enough to prepare only the paired chapters?

No. The short questions and MCQs come from chapters outside the pairs as well, so every chapter has to be covered. The pairs only tell you how the long questions are built.

Where can I find Chemistry lectures chapter by chapter?

The Creative Taleem app has chapter-wise Chemistry lectures with quizzes and flashcards, so you can follow the pairs in the same order as the scheme.
