10th Class Physics Pairing Scheme 2027 Punjab Board

The 10th class Physics book is one run of twelve chapters, numbered 10 to 21, that travels from heat through waves, light and electricity to the atom and space. This page explains how its 60 marks are divided and how to plan twelve chapters around that pattern, for students of the Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Sahiwal, Sargodha, Multan, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi and Lahore boards.

The 60 marks of 10th class Physics, part by part

Total marks60
MCQs (objective part)12 MCQs, 12 marks
Written part48 marks
Short questionsThree questions, attempt 5 of 8 in each (30 marks)
Long questionsAttempt any 2 of 3, 9 marks each (18 marks)

Twelve of the 60 marks are MCQs and 48 are written. The written part holds three short questions, in each of which you choose 5 parts out of 8, which gives 30 marks, and three long questions of 9 marks from which you answer two, which gives 18. Short questions therefore have to be faced in full, while one long question can be left.

What a twelve-chapter book means for your plan

Twelve chapters set against three short questions means that each short question spreads over several chapters. The scheme image shows the chapter numbers beside every question, so read it before you cut the book into weeks.

The book falls into natural blocks: heat and its transfer, then waves, sound and light, then electricity and magnetism, and finally the modern topics of electronics, the nucleus and space. Planning by block is sensible, but check your blocks against the grouping on the image before you rely on them.

Choice appears only in the long part. That makes it unwise to drop a whole block because it feels hard, since the short questions still reach into it.

A plan that follows the shape of the book

  1. Spend a fortnight per block, and close each block with a written test of one numerical from every chapter in it.
  2. Collect the formulas of a chapter on one card with the unit of every symbol, and keep the cards in book order.
  3. Draw ray diagrams, circuit diagrams and wave sketches by hand until you can reproduce them without the page.
  4. Treat the last two chapters, Atomic and Nuclear Physics and Space and Environment, as full chapters and not as bonus reading.
  5. In the final fortnight, solve mixed sets in which one question comes from each block.

Slips that cost Physics marks

  • Leaving out the unit in the final line of a numerical.
  • Studying circuits as pictures without being able to calculate with them.
  • Rushing through the first heat chapters because they look like a revision of earlier classes.
  • Postponing the MCQs, although they make up a fifth of the paper.

Once the pattern is clear, practise with the 10th class Physics guess paper, and learn the lectures in Physics online.

Frequently asked questions

How many marks is the 10th class Physics paper, and how are they split?

The paper is 60 marks: 12 MCQs of one mark each, three short questions where you attempt 5 of 8 parts (30 marks), and two out of three long questions of 9 marks each (18 marks).

Why do the Physics chapters start at number 10?

The numbering in the Physics book continues from the earlier class, so the first chapter of the 10th class book is chapter 10 and the last one is chapter 21.

I study under BISE Bahawalpur. Do I follow a different Physics pattern?

Bahawalpur students use the same Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board syllabus as the other eight boards, and this page is written for all of them. If your own board circulates a separate notice, that notice comes first.

Can I skip a long question in Physics?

Yes, one of the three. The short questions have no such choice, so every chapter still matters.

Does the pairing scheme show which numericals will appear?

No. It shows the pattern and the chapter grouping, never the questions themselves. Practise numericals from the whole chapter.

Where can I study Physics chapter by chapter?

The Creative Taleem app has chapter-wise Physics lectures, quizzes and the Ustad Gee AI tutor, so you can move through the book in the same order as the scheme.
