10th Class Study Plan for Board Exams: Weekly Routine (Science Group)

Tenth class feels shorter than ninth because new chapters and the board exam arrive together. This 10th class study plan for the Punjab Board Science group splits the year into three phases, gives you a weekly routine, and shows how to use revision loops, MCQs and past papers in the right order.

Why 10th class needs a different plan from 9th

In 9th class the main job is to learn new chapters properly. In 10th class you do that and also prepare for the board exam, which makes the year feel shorter. A good 10th class study plan keeps the daily routine small, adds revision loops early and moves slowly from learning to testing as the exam gets closer.

This guide is for Science group students following the Punjab Board (PCTB) syllabus. Your school timetable, your board’s official date sheet and your teachers’ guidance always come first; treat the plan below as a starting point that you adjust every month. It is also the companion of our 9th class study plan for new students, so if you skipped that year’s habits, read it too.

Split the year into three phases

Exact months depend on when your school starts and when your board holds the exam, so think in phases, not in calendar dates.

  • Phase 1: Learn (first half of the year). Cover new chapters with live classes, recorded lectures or your teacher, and finish each topic with a short quiz. Keep a list of weak topics from the very first month.
  • Phase 2: Strengthen (middle of the year). Finish the syllabus. Start chapter-wise tests, redo wrong questions and spend extra time on the weak list. Add a short weekly slot for 9th class chapters that are still shaky.
  • Phase 3: Exam mode (last two to three months). Revise every chapter in a loop, then move to board-wise quizzes and past papers under a timer. Keep new learning for gaps only.

If you also took a test or a pre-board exam in school, use the result as a map of what to fix, not as a verdict on yourself.

A sample weekly routine

Each block is about 45 to 60 minutes. Move the days around to fit school hours and any live classes you attend. The Saturday test is the most important part; do not skip it.

DayBlock 1Block 2
MondayMathematics: new topic and exerciseChemistry: revise previous chapter
TuesdayPhysics: new topic and numericalsEnglish: reading, grammar or writing practice
WednesdayChemistry: new topic, reactions, definitionsMathematics: redo wrong questions
ThursdayBiology or Computer Science: new topic, diagrams or practiceUrdu, Islamiat or Pakistan Studies: short revision
FridayPhysics: practice set and past-paper questionsMathematics: timed practice
SaturdayWeekly test: one chapter quiz in each main subjectCheck every wrong answer and update the weak list
SundayOne 9th class chapter per subject in rotationRest and plan next week

Subjects other than the five science-group ones, such as Urdu, English, Islamiat or Pakistan Studies, also carry marks. Give them small, regular slots instead of leaving them for the last week.

Revision loops that actually work

Reading a chapter once and reading it again the night before the exam is the weakest way to revise. Spread it out:

  1. Same day: write a short summary in your own words and take a topic quiz.
  2. After one week: flashcards or notes for five to ten minutes.
  3. After one month: a mixed chapter test, then fix mistakes.
  4. Before the exam: smart revision of each chapter, then past papers.

Every time you get a question wrong, write down why: a formula you forgot, a step you skipped, a term you confused. That one line is what you read again later. Smart notes and flashcards save time here, because you do not have to rewrite everything.

MCQs, past papers and guess papers: in what order

  • Topic and chapter MCQs in Phases 1 and 2. They show whether you understood the chapter.
  • Custom quizzes of your weak topics, in the second half of the year.
  • Board-wise quizzes and past papers in Phase 3, with a timer. Attempt a full paper, then mark it honestly.
  • Guess papers only as extra practice, after you have finished the syllabus. See our 10th class guess papers page for what is available. No guess paper can predict the real paper, so never study only from one.

Keep a short list of the question types where you tend to lose marks, such as numericals in Physics and Mathematics or diagrams in Biology, and practise those on purpose.

Using live classes, recordings and Ustad Gee

If you attend live classes, treat that time as your new-topic block and use the evening to practise. If you miss a class, watch the recording the same day; on Creative Taleem it is usually available within 1 to 5 minutes after the live class. Offline downloads help when your internet is unreliable.

For doubts at night, ask Ustad Gee in Urdu, English or Roman Urdu, and ask for a simpler explanation or an example. Then close the answer and explain it back in your own words. Check anything important against your PCTB textbook. Subject pages such as Physics and Maths show what lectures and practice are available, and open batches are listed on Pricing.

The last month before the exam

  • Stop starting new books. Revise the chapters you already know and fix the weak list.
  • Solve one full past paper per main subject under the real time limit, then review it.
  • Sleep properly. A rested mind recalls more than a tired one.
  • Check your roll number slip, centre and date sheet from the official board notice well in advance.

More exam-time advice is in our Matric exam preparation tips. If you do not pass a paper, there is still a way forward; see the guide to the supply exam.

Looking beyond 10th class

A steady 10th class year also makes the jump to FSc smoother. When you are ready, read which FSc group to choose and see our FSc page. This plan is a framework, not a promise of marks. Marks depend on your effort, your teachers and the paper itself.

Frequently asked questions

How many hours should a 10th class student study every day?

There is no magic number. Many 10th class students do well with about three focused hours of home study on a normal school day, a little more on the weekend, and a heavier but still balanced routine in the last weeks before the board exam. Quality matters more than hours: a tired five-hour session helps less than a fresh two-hour one. Adjust the plan to your school timing and your own energy.

When should I start preparing for the 10th class board exam?

From the first week of the year. Board preparation is not a separate phase that begins in the last month; it is the same chapters you study all year, revised in loops. Use the last two to three months for full revision, past papers and timed practice, and check your board’s official date sheet for the exact exam dates.

How should I revise 9th class chapters in 10th class?

Give 9th class a short, regular slot every week instead of leaving it for the end. A simple way is one 9th class chapter quiz per subject every two weeks, then a longer 9th class revision block before the exam. Confirm in your board’s official notification which classes and chapters your exam covers.

Are past papers enough to pass the board exam?

No. Past papers show the style of questions and help with time management, but they do not replace understanding the textbook. Learn the chapter first, practise topic and chapter MCQs, then use past papers to test yourself under exam conditions. Questions in the real paper may differ from any past or guess paper.

Can I follow this plan without joining Creative Taleem?

Yes. The method works with any textbook and any study source. If you do use Creative Taleem, its live classes, recorded lectures, quizzes, smart revision, past papers and Ustad Gee AI tutor fit into the blocks below. Open batches are listed on the Pricing page.
