How the 75 marks of 10th class Maths are made up
| Total marks | 75 |
|---|---|
| MCQs (objective part) | 15 MCQs, 15 marks |
| Written part | 60 marks |
| Short questions | Three sets, attempt 6 of 9 parts in each set |
| Long questions | The choice of questions and their marks are shown on the scheme image |
Fifteen marks come from MCQs, and the written part is 60 marks. The short questions come in three sets, and in every set you attempt 6 parts out of 9. The long questions, their number, their marks and the choice you get among them are printed on the scheme image, so copy that rule into your notes.

Using the pattern to budget your time
Three sets with a choice of 6 out of 9 means that you can drop three parts in every set. That is a freedom only for students who have studied the chapters of the set, since the parts you drop should be the weak ones, not the unknown ones.
The book mixes algebra chapters at the start, a trigonometry and vector section in the middle and circle geometry afterwards, followed by two chapters of data and chance. Each family needs its own habit: algebra needs steps, geometry needs neat figures and Probability needs careful reading.
Because the paper is long, practise it as a whole. Time a set of short questions and a long question separately, and add the times to see whether the full paper fits in the hall.
A weekly plan for the Maths book
- Solve the exercise of one chapter per day, and write a mistakes page of the questions that needed a second try.
- Practise Complex Numbers and Matrices on small-step drills, since they are new topics for many students and take repetition.
- Draw circle figures with compass and ruler for the three circle chapters, and write the reason beside every step.
- Keep one formula sheet for Trigonometry and Vectors in Plane and rewrite it every Sunday.
- Solve a full 75-mark paper in the real time limit once a week in the last month.
Where Maths marks slip away
- Choosing short parts after starting them instead of reading all nine first.
- Leaving the figure out of a circle question.
- Treating Information Handling and Probability as easy chapters and never practising them.
- Showing the answer without the steps that earn the marks.
Once the pattern is clear, practise with the 10th class Maths guess paper, and learn the lectures in Mathematics online.
Frequently asked questions
How many marks is the 10th class Maths paper of the science group?
The paper is 75 marks. Fifteen of them are MCQs and sixty are written.
How many short parts do I attempt in Maths?
The short questions come in three sets, and you attempt 6 of the 9 parts in each set.
How many chapters does the 10th class Maths book have?
Twelve, from Complex Numbers to Probability, numbered 1 to 12.
I am a BISE Dera Ghazi Khan student. Will my Maths paper follow another pattern?
No board is meant to differ, because all nine follow the Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board syllabus. If Dera Ghazi Khan publishes a separate notice, follow that.
Where do I see the long question rule?
It is printed on the scheme image on this page, together with the marks of the long questions.
Which lectures go with the twelve Maths chapters?
In the Creative Taleem app every Maths chapter has its own recorded lecture, solved exercises and a quiz, so you can move through the book in the order printed on the scheme.
