How the ten chapters meet the paper
With only ten chapters, each chapter carries more weight than in a book of thirteen. A weak chapter is harder to hide, so every one of the ten deserves a full read.
The first four chapters describe body systems that work together: food is digested, oxygen enters the blood, the blood circulates and waste is removed. Learning them as one connected story makes each diagram easier to remember.
The last chapters, Biotechnology, Diseases and Immunity and Evolution, are discussion-heavy. Practise writing their answers in clear points, as the paper expects reasoned answers.
Preparing Biology system by system
- Take one system at a time and draw its main diagram on a blank page, then label it from memory.
- Build a vocabulary list per chapter: term, meaning and one example, kept on cards.
- For Coordination and Reproduction, write the sequence of events as numbered steps, since an ordered answer reads better than a paragraph.
- Answer one long question per week with headings, points and a diagram where the question allows.
- Use the MCQs of each chapter to find words you recognise but cannot define.
Biology answers that lose marks
- Drawing a diagram and leaving parts unlabelled.
- Mixing the functions of two similar organs in one answer.
- Writing Inheritance answers without a worked cross.
- Skipping Evolution and Biotechnology because they seem like general reading.

Frequently asked questions
How many marks is 10th class Biology, and what is the MCQ share?
The paper is 60 marks. Twelve are MCQs and the other 48 are short and long written questions.
How many chapters are there in the 10th class Biology book?
Ten: Human Digestive System, Human Respiratory System, Human Blood Circulatory System, Human Urinary System, Coordination, Reproduction, Inheritance, Biotechnology, Diseases and Immunity, and Evolution.
I study under BISE Rawalpindi. Should my Biology preparation change because of my board?
Rawalpindi students follow the same Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board syllabus as the others, and this page is for all nine boards. If Rawalpindi issues a separate notice, follow it.
Do I study Biology and Computer Science both?
No. Students of the science group take Biology or Computer Science according to their group. If you take Computer Science, use that scheme page instead.
Where do I find the chapters grouped for each question?
The groupings and the attempt rules are printed on the scheme image on this page, and your own board notice remains the final word.
How can I learn Biology diagrams step by step?
The Creative Taleem app has chapter-wise Biology lectures with summaries, flashcards and quizzes, so you can learn the diagrams in the order of the book.
